The ad is from 1950 and the above hat really is close to that bash and crown height, the label inside is probably the biggest clue to the decade in question ?? I bought the hat on Ebay and it's on the way. Finally a 7 5/8 Long Oval :)

The black size tag puts that in the 60s. It was before they started putting the metric size on in the 70s. It was also before they started using black synthetic "leather" for the sweatband, so I'd say between 1963 and 1969 or so.
